Free practice, no catch

ExamStates is a free practice site for the licensing and certification exams that US states run themselves: security guard cards, alcohol server certifications, notary exams, firearm safety tests, fire safety certificates, food protection certificates, jurisprudence exams and more. There is no account, no signup and no paywall.

Why this exists

Most of these exams are built on a free government handbook, yet the search results are full of course sellers and answer-key spam. If you are already paying a state agency for a license, you should not have to pay a third party to practice. ExamStates is built the other way around: everything is free from the first question.

How the questions are built

Every question is an original, written by ExamStates from the official source for that exam: the state handbook, statute, regulation, agency study guide or published curriculum. Each explanation cites its source, and every bank goes through an automated quality audit and a manual read-pass before it is published. Fees, time limits and pass marks are checked against the regulator’s own page, and each quiz page shows when that check was done.
